When content authors update a page, they can add a comment detailing what changes they made. These comments are logged in the page's History tab and are sometimes mandatory, depending on the content type's Site Management settings.
Content authors can use our first feature with supportive AI technology to generate a summary by comparing the last version to the current version.
This feature requires configuration in the back end, so the Granicus team will enable it for you. If you're interested in trying this feature, please submit a support ticket and we'll be in touch with the next steps.
How it Works
When a content author publishes a page or submits it to a workflow:
- The Publish Page pop-up appears with a comments box.
- The author can select Write for me!
- A summary of 300-400 words is generated by comparing the last page version to this updated one.
- The author can make any edits to the AI summary in the comments box and hit Submit when they're ready. If the author selects Write for me! again, the AI will generate a new comment with different content.
- If there are any errors and the summary is not generated, content authors can still write a comment and publish the page.
When using this feature, keep in mind:
- Comments are generated by comparing the previously published version with the current version of pages only. You cannot generate comments for files or themes.
- We cannot predict the exact content of the AI-generated comment, but when comparing, it will check for differences in the:
- Page fields
- WYSIWYG Editor
- Content type
- Template
- Hide from search and navigation settings
- We have set the AI to generate succinct 300-400-word comments in a professional tone. Specific fields are mentioned by the field label in the comment, so the notes for each field will be briefer when you make more changes.
- You can still generate comments when using workflows, but the feature is unavailable when:
- Rejecting a page from a workflow
- If you are publishing the first page version
- If you are publishing language variants
- Content syncs from a third-party integration
- If there are no changes between the two versions, the comments box is filled with "No differences detected between the two versions."
- In the event of an error, an error message will appear below the comments box, and the content author will be able to write their own comment and publish the page.
