The News module provides a way to collect and display any OC News Articles created in your site. The module works with 3 parts: a news listing page, a homepage listing and OC News Article pages.

See it in action: Check out the news listing page and news article page on our demo site.

News module listing page

Central to the module is the listing page which uses the OC Module Interface content type, with 1 of 4 templates: OC News Listing, OC News Listing Full Width, OC News Listing Full Width Grid or OC News Listing Grid.

The news listing page lists all news items in the order they've been published, with 10 showing per page. Visitors can search for news articles by keyword or category. For each news item, the title, summary, publication date, category and image will appear. Clicking a news item will take you to the news article page.

Your news listing page will sort news articles using the date entered in the Add official publish date field of the OC News Article page, starting with the most recent publication date.

Note: Articles will not be sorted by the most recently edited date and time.

Create a news listing page:

  1. Right-click in the site tree where you want to create the listing.
  2. Select Create page.
  3. Choose OC Module Interface as the content type.
  4. Select one of the news templates from the Template Name dropdown menu.
  5. Fill out the necessary fields of the listing page.
  6. Publish the page.

Homepage news listing

Your homepage will display the three most recent news items in one of your homepage tabs, or in a featured news row. For each item, the title, summary, publication date and image will appear. Latest News will take you to the news listing page.

Note that news articles without images won't be displayed on your homepage.

If you'd like to make a particular news article stay on the homepage listing regardless of how many articles are published, you can pin it to the homepage news row. We recommend setting a review date for news articles and homepage content (especially for articles pinned to the homepage). This will allow you to manage any pinned content and ensure your homepage stays fresh.

We recommend displaying 3 news items at a time in the homepage news listing for a better viewing experience on tablet and mobile devices. More than 3 items at a time create too long of a scroll for users with smaller devices and excessive content for screen readers.
