The Public Notices module helps list and promote city or council communications, announcements, and consultations. They can be used to communicate items with a degree of authority, such as those required for legislation or lawmaking proceedings. This is how they differ from news articles or media releases. It may be helpful to think of it as something that would traditionally have been used in local newspapers to announce such things as:

  • City or council purchases
  • City or council works
  • Announcing opening tenders or applications

The module uses the OC Module Interface content type to list the notices and the OC Public Notice content type to present a detailed notice page. There are three templates available for this module, and which one you use depends on how you want to structure your public notice listing. You can list current and expired notices on one page, list current and expired notices on separate pages, or use all three listings. All listings will show the notice's title, display date, summary, and categories.

Public notices can also be listed on your homepage tabs if it has been configured in your theme. The public notices template used in tabs will display the most recent notices published and link to the public notices listing page.

See it in action: check out the public notices listing page and public notice page on our demo site.
