This task can be undertaken by users with the following roles: OC Site Manager and OC System Administrator.
One way of reaching different parts of your community is by allowing visitors to share your website pages on social media. Using our Share pages feature, you can enable page sharing by content type and specific pages and configure icons for easy sharing across your preferred social media platforms. You can also configure pages to enable easy printing.
Check out this video to see how it's done:
Set up page sharing
You can enable and configure page sharing in Site Management:
- From the main menu, go to More > Site Management > your site > Settings.
- Select Share pages.
- Switch the Enable setting to Yes.
- Under Settings, check each Channel you want to include, then use the dropdown menus to adjust Alignment on page, Size, Button shape, and whether you want to Show text labels.
- If you want to enable print-friendly pages, make sure you check the Print option under Channels. This will allow your community to print directly from the webpage.
- As you change these settings, you'll see the icons under Preview. You can drag and drop these preview icons to reorder them.
- If you only want page sharing for specific content types, then use the list under Enable by content type to ensure you've only selected the necessary content.
- When you're finished, select Save Settings and Save.
We submit your site visitors’ sharing actions to Google Analytics using Social Interactions tracking. Check out Google’s developer documentation for more information.
Turn page sharing on or off for individual pages
Once you've enabled and configured page sharing, you can switch it on or off for individual pages. However, you will have to enable the content type in your Share pages settings before you can adjust it for particular pages.
- Go to the page you want to adjust the settings for and select Update.
- Switch over to the Engagement tab.
- Under the Share menu, select or deselect Enable Page sharing. This tab will also show you the Total page shares for this page.
- Make any other changes you need to, then Save and Publish the page.
Please remember that, regardless of the content types and pages you've enabled sharing on, your community can still use the URL of the page to share on social media. These settings only allow or disallow sharing through your site.
