This task should be undertaken by users with the following roles: OC Site Manager and OC System Administrator.

Metadata is information about data. In this case, the metadata refers to information about your site. You can manage metadata from Site Management; this video will show you how to do it:

  1. From the main menu, go to More > Site Management > your site > Settings.
  2. Select Metadata.
    Metadata icon in site management
  3. Make your changes.
  4. Select Save Settings and Save.

Metadata Settings

Description

Enter a description of your site to use in search engine results for any page that does not have its own description.

Please note that while this description will display for search results of your homepage, there's no guarantee that this description will be used for other pages on your site. Often, search engines will use the user's search keywords to find matching content on the page. In this case, the matching content will be used as the description instead of the Page description.

Social media image

Add a default image to be used as a preview for your site on social media. This image will appear when users share your site's pages on social media if the specific page does not have an image in the page image field.

We recommend using an image that is 1200px x 630px, with a maximum file size of 1024kb.

Additional tags

If you need to, add extra metadata tags for your site. The tag value will be taken from the page field that you select. You can also set an alternative text value to use when that field is empty on a page.
