To use files on your site, you need to upload them to the Files library. You can upload files one at a time or in bulk, and you can upload many file types, including documents, images, videos, and audio files.
When you upload a file, you have 2 options:
Additionally, you can also Re-Upload a file to update it on all pages it's linked to. Once you've uploaded or updated a file, you can configure the file to suit your needs.
Upload to the Files Library
The Files Library stores almost all the files you upload to your site. You can use files from your Files Library on any page on your site, and any files uploaded to the Shared files folder can be used on any of your sites.
To upload a file to your Files Library:
- From the main menu, select Files to open your Files Library.
- Go to the folder you want to add the file to.
- Select Add File or right-click on the folder and select Import File.
- Select Upload a file to browse your computer for the file you want. You can select multiple files at once.
- Select your File Upload Options, File Configuration Options, and Language Options.
- Select Start Upload.
- Once uploaded, you can further configure your file by changing the File name and File description, adding content labels, or a summary for the file. Screen readers will read the File Description as an image's alt text, and it will display as the text that appears when you hover over a link. We recommend adding a File description to each file as you upload them so that each file will have a backup alt text. Otherwise, you will need to add alt text when you're inserting it into a page.
- If you're uploading an image, you can select Edit Image to open the Image Editor.
- When you're happy, Publish the file to use it on your pages.

Upload to a page
When creating a page, you can upload files directly from the WYSIWYG Editor or the page fields. You can upload files to the Files Library (via the Group files and Shared files folders) or upload them to the Content files folder. The Content files folder is unique to the page you're working on. You won't be able to use any files uploaded to the Content files folder anywhere else on your site. We recommend uploading all files to the Group Files or Shared Files folders.
To upload a file:
- In the WYSIWYG Editor, select the Image Manager to upload an image, the Document Manager to upload a document, or the Media Manager to upload a media file. These options will open your Files Library.
- Choose the folder you want to upload the file to and select the Upload Files icon.
- Select Upload a file to browse your computer for the correct file. You can only upload one file at a time with this option.
- Select your File Upload Options and File Configuration Options. As you're uploading directly from a page, you cannot deselect the Publish after uploading option.
- If you want, change the Textfilename and File description. The File description is used as the image's alt text, and it will display as the text that appears when you hover over a link. We recommend adding a File description to each file as you upload them, so each file will have a backup alt text. Otherwise, you will need to add alt text when you're inserting it into a page.
- Select Upload.
- To add it to your page, select it in the grid or list and choose Insert.
When you're inserting a document, you can also change the link text, select if it opens a new window, and add a tooltip for screen readers.
Update a file
If you have a file that will be added on many pages and updated frequently, you can use the Re-Upload button. This button allows you to upload a replacement file while retaining any information entered from previous file versions.
For example, files such as budget documents will need to be updated every year. You could use the Re-Upload button to replace the budget document every year without re-linking it to all the pages. However, the File description will be maintained between file versions, so you'll need to review it for each new document.
To Re-Upload a file:
- In the Files Library, click on the file you want to change, then select Update.
- Select the Re-Upload button to open the file upload window.
- Select Upload a file to browse your computer for the new file, then select Start Upload.
- Configure the new version of the file as you need to.
- Select Publish to link it to your pages, and it will automatically update all occurrences of this file on your live site.
